Sara Ahmed is currently an MD/PhD candidate at the University of Toronto. She is completing her PhD at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. She is studying the applications of nanomedicine in cancer with the goal of enhancing drug delivery to tumors. Outside of academia, Sara is involved in research and outreach initiatives which aim to increase underrepresented student demographics in Medicine and Academia. She works with the Community of Support at the University of Toronto to develop programs that build student competencies for pursuing research opportunities, graduate school, and professional programs. Sara is also advocating to increase the representation of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds in medicine.
