Dr. Samantha Jackson
Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream
Samantha is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, at the Graduate Centre for Academic Communication (GCAC) and at the department of Linguistics. She holds a BA in English Language and Literature with Education and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. Before joining the University of Toronto, she held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto Mississauga.
Since 2014, Samantha has been teaching courses in oral, written and workplace communication as well as linguistics. A sociolinguist, Samantha primarily conducts language research that directly addresses societal problems. In the future, she intends to examine the effectiveness of different active learning techniques in the classroom.
