February 9, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm EST
This synchronous online workshop is taught by Elena Danilina
Being able to write effective summaries is an essential skill for writing at the graduate level. In this 90-minute workshop, we will examine strategies for writing comprehensive, concise, and coherent summaries by answering questions such as the following: How is a summary different from a paraphrase? How can I distinguish between major and minor details in the text? Should I include my own interpretations of the text in the summary? We will also learn how to better plan, write, and revise effective summaries.
This is the fifth of 6 workshops in the Academic Writing and Speaking in English for Multilingual Students workshop series.
This workshop will be offered live online and will not be recorded. Please register by clicking the “REGISTER” link below to receive the confirmation e-mail with the workshop details.
