The University of Toronto was my one and only choice; a friend in her PhD program in Spanish highly recommended the program.

My field of interest is Literature and Visual Arts, and my dissertation focuses on the appropriation of Visual Art in Contemporary Mexican Literature. The courses that I take are directly relevant and complement my specialization. The preparation that U of T offers has been greatly enriching.

The professors at U of T are always open and willing to help; the level of the course instruction is very high. The course discussions are challenging and thrilling. I am fortunate to engage with brilliant students.

Besides academics, I love the extraordinary libraries, especially Robarts Library, where I find most of the books I need. I like the University’s central location and the range of activities it offers, specifically the beautiful pool and gym at Hart House.

After working for many years as an artist and teaching at the Faculty of Arts in Mexico, being able to focus on studying, reading, and conducting research again at the University of Toronto has opened new paths in my career.
