“I am in a small program which results in close friendship with fellow students.”
I have been a member of the U of T community since September 2011, when I chose to pursue my interest in accounting after completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree. The Master of Management and Professional Accounting (MMPA) is a very specialized program that allows students to pursue a professional accounting designation following undergraduate studies.
The MMPA program allows me to work towards my Chartered Accountant (CA) designation. I am able to complete all of the required courses while obtaining a master’s degree. In addition, this program has a co-op component, which gives me an opportunity to secure a position when I graduate.
I am in a small program which results in close friendship with fellow students, and we learn a lot from each other. I plan to stay connected with them beyond graduation. In addition, the professors, who are passionate about the courses they teach, are experts in their field and some of the best mentors I’ve ever had.
The highlight of my experience so far was receiving an award for placing in the top 10% of my class during the first year at an awards ceremony to recognize students for their various achievements. This recognition confirmed to me that all of the hard work that I was investing in my education was reaping benefits.
In my opinion, the U of T experience is about getting a professional education while enjoying the various activities and clubs on campus. It’s about meeting great students and professors who will be important in shaping your career and future.
