“I value the diverse research interests and academic topics.”
After considering admission offers from several top American schools, I ultimately chose U of T. As an international student accompanied by my family, I had to make a balanced decision that would satisfy both my professional/academic aspirations and personal life.
Fortunately, the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies offered me a prestigious entrance award — the Connaught International Scholarship for Doctoral Students — that made U of T the ideal choice.
I appreciate the open and friendly atmosphere at the centre, where professors are ready to discuss academic and non-academic questions posed by students. I value the diverse research interests and academic topics that are studied and discussed by both faculty and students at our centre. There are many things I like about U of T. Above all, I benefit from intellectual events hosted by both the Centre for Criminology and the Munk School of Global Affairs.
My most memorable experience? Accepting the prestigious Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarship has tremendously enriched my academic and professional life in Canada. Outside the classroom, my time is taken up with travels to scholarly conferences and networking events organized by the Trudeau Foundation.
On the personal side, I enjoy time with my family (including my newborn son), attending concerts, cinema, and the abundance of cultural events that Toronto offers.
